Centre for prisoner release, rehabilitation and reintegration
Blue Gate House is believed to be the first rehabilitation and reintegration centre for prisoners in Cambodia. Launched in November 2004, BGH has completed 3 years of service and has matured greatly in an area of work that has not been successfully undertaken before now.
As at November 2007, 900 prisoners and ex-prisoners have accessed our rehabilitation and reintegration services. The challenges for prisons, prisoners, families, and communities are great and are sometimes overwhelming when we look at the numbers of people impacted by crime and imprisonment. Thus the challenges for Blue Gate House are also great!
The Centre is located about 20 minutes from Cambodia's national prisons (the men's prison and women and youth prison) and a large provincial prison. As a result, most of our clients come from these prisons although in other areas we have a feeder system of local church contacts who will receive released prisoners and send them to our Centre.
Our core services are pre-release needs assessment and counselling, and our post release emergency aid services.
