Blue Gate House follows up those who return home

Our Social Workers currently make up to 60 visits to the homes of clients and their families each month.  Home visits have become an essential part of our service as it has evolved over the last two years.  We make visits for the following reasons:

A prisoner is concerned about his/her family, or afraid they will not receive them back.

Someone we expected to arrive at BGH has not, so we go to check to see if they have arrived home safely and to assess their situation.

To ensure those we have sent to their homes have arrived safely and all is well.

To provide ongoing support and counselling, or to begin providing new services.

To assess suitability for small business loans or vocational training.

Social Workers travel to the homes of clients for some of the following reasons:

Ongoing follow-up/ Income generation activities.

Counselling.

Mediation.

Family search.

Situation recon.

Taking a client home.
