Foreign Prisoner Visitation Project
There are approximately 90 foreigners in Cambodian prisons, with most of them in prisons close to Phnom Penh. Few of these prisoners have family in the country and because families of prisoners in Cambodia supplement the minimal food provided they are at a distinct disadvantage. PFC arranges for volunteer visitors from the expatriate community to visit as many of these people as we can on a monthly basis, taking a small food parcel and spending time with them. We aim to simply ease the passing of their sentence through friendship, food gifts, medical care where we can, moral and spiritual support.
We have no budget for this project. The project leader is a volunteer from the Philippines who pastors a church here in Phnom Penh. We rely on volunteers to visit and purchase small food packs, and we try to find people from the same country as the prisoner.
If you are based in Cambodia and can spare a few hours each month, and want to take the opportunity to build into someone's life - we need you! We don't have enough volunteers. If you are from the USA, New Zealand, England, Australia, Italy, France, India, Korea we need you! We welcome those from other nationalities too!
