Education Project

Education is currently provided by Prison Fellowship Cambodia to around 2,000 prisoners in 6 prisons every month.

The PFC Education project leader and his staff are supported by a large number of volunteers from churches around the country, and several provincial coordinators (usually pastors who have a church near a provincial prison).

The Education project is also committed to adding value to the prison system itself through education of prison staff and seeks to assist them where possible to improve prison standards.

Prison does not need to be a waste of time, and one of our aims is to see that this 'captive' audience gets an opportunity to make the most of their sentence to improve lives once they are released.

For many, proving to themselves and their family that they can achieve something (in the form of a new skill and certificate to prove it) gives the incentive to continue to improve, boosting their self esteem and giving them hope for the future.

Graduations are held at the completion of each course, usually attended by the prison chief or representative, and the PFC leadership, and certificates are awarded to each graduate.  This is followed by some celebration snacks and drinks for students and officials.
