Formal Schooling
High School
This is a progamme that is "currently under construction". A major need for many young men is simply school education. Wouldn't it be great if they could find in prison what was either unavailable to them before, or that they were too distracted to complete it. The National Women and Youth prison (CC2) has welcomed the idea of a High School based course and has allowed our staff to interview many young prison inmates to make their first 'class' selection. They have also made provision of rooms for the education to take place. We currently have some donors interested and hope that we can begin this service in 2007.
Primary School
This also is a developing programme in the response to an increase in numbers of prisoners aged between 11 and 16 who have had little or no primary schooling. A structure is currently being built to accommodate a primary school class in a provincial prison near Phnom Penh.
